A group of people having a discussion in a living room, with a human skeleton model standing in the foreground. Two men are speaking, one with his hands raised and the other listening with arms crossed. A woman with curly hair sits in the foreground listening. The room has large windows, a mantel, and a flat-screen TV on the wall.

You’ve spent years learning how to teach technique.
You’ve refined your language, sharpened your ear, and developed nuanced corrections.

And still, some patterns in your students never change.

Not because your instruction isn't clear. Because something is already happening in the body before instruction reaches it.

WHAT A SESSION LOOKS LIKE

A session might begin with a question most of us have never been asked. Where does your sitting actually begin? What is breath support, really, and where in the body is it actually happening? How do we make ease last beyond the moment we first find it?

Not where we think the answer lives, not where we have been told to think about it, but where the body is actually organizing itself right now, before anything is asked of it.

The instruction runs for twenty minutes. The remainder of the session is movement and performance work, not demonstrating the concept but feeling for it, noticing what shifts when that question is genuinely alive in the body rather than held as an idea.

The following week builds on it. The week after refines it. Over months, the framework accumulates in the body rather than in notes that never get revisited.

Sessions are taught live, recorded, and added to the indexed hub within twenty-four hours. You can attend live or work from the recording. The library is searchable by concept, by date, and by instrument and voice category.

This is how somatic change actually works. Repeated contact with the same territory, in different contexts, across time, with a teacher who can see what is happening and respond to what is actually there.

WHO THIS IS FOR

If you've ever felt like you're teaching around a problem you can't quite name, or if your best students still struggle with things that should be automatic by now, this practice is for you.

The mBODYed Practice is for performers, music educators, studio teachers, performing arts faculty, and doctoral students who want to develop sustained, grounded capacity in Body Mapping and the Alexander Technique and to teach from that capacity rather than around it.

You do not need prior experience with this work. You need enough teaching experience to recognize what sustained practice in a rigorous framework makes possible.

The value of the subscription increases every month you are in it. A subscriber who joins in month one accumulates a growing archive. A subscriber who joins in month twelve has a year of indexed, searchable content available on entry. That is intentional.

— Dr. Kirsten Yon - Associate Professor of Violin, University of Houston

“I have gained valuable physical and practical knowledge, countless insights into my own practices, thinking, and proprioception, and a wealth of amazing tools for teaching. At the heart of Shawn’s mentorship is his unwavering commitment to creating deep, personal, unique body connections combined with a sincere trust of one’s instincts. My mBODYed work has translated into profoundly impactful teaching moments and deeply fulfilling performances- what a transformative gift for my body and soul!!”

THE CERTIFICATION PATHWAY

For educators who want to develop formal teaching capacity in this work, the mBODYed Practice is the entry point to certification. Active subscribers have first access to each cohort.

    12 weeks · Feb. 2027 · $2,400
    Prerequisite: Level I

Becoming mBODYed Certified Alexander Technique Teacher

    12 to 18 months · Rolling Enrollment
Prerequisite: Levels I and II with coaching
Format: 1:1 coaching and teaching observation with mentorship

Level III requires the coaching add-on in both Level I and Level II because Level III is built on demonstrated capacity in the coaching relationship, not only in the teaching relationship. The add-on in Levels I and II is the formation that Level III assumes.

A NOTE ON THE SUBSCRIPTION MODEL

The mBODYed Practice is a subscription because somatic change requires sustained contact over time. Irregular exposure produces irregular results. Weekly practice with a consistent framework and a consistent teacher is the condition under which real change becomes possible.

At $250 per month, the Practice is priced at the level of professional development and executive coaching, not at the level of a video library. It is an ongoing teaching relationship with a growing, indexed body of work behind it.

- Dr. Amanda Heim, Gettysburg College

“Shawn changed my life. I would not have finished my DMA without him and probably wouldn't even be playing the saxophone anymore if it weren't for his Alexander technique course and incredible instruction.”

The practice begins with one session.
The library grows from there.
