The Becoming mBODYed Letter

More of you is available when it counts the most.

Join The mBODYed Letter.

Each week, I share practical ways to understand how we respond under pressure, so you can bring more of your skill, attention, and expression into playing and teaching.

We are already organized before we respond.

We know the passage in practice. Then someone listens, and our breathing changes. We hear a student struggle and begin preparing the next correction before they finish playing.

These responses make sense. We have learned ways to prepare, meet expectations, and keep going. Understanding what those strategies help us do gives us somewhere useful to begin exploring greater choice.

Join me each week for:

  • One teaching idea grounded in practice, rehearsal, or performance.

  • A practical exploration to try with your instrument or in your teaching.

  • Questions that help us notice what changes when the pressure rises.

  • Reflections from my own work as a musician and teacher, with resources worth spending time with.

Hi, I’m Shawn.

I’m a clarinetist, Alexander Technique and Body Mapping teacher, and founder of mBODYed. My work brings together performing, university teaching, and helping musicians understand how attention and movement shape what becomes possible.

I bring these questions into my own practice as well as my teaching. This letter is where I share what we can notice, explore, and put to use.

Bring more choice into the work you care about.

For musicians, performers, and educators who want to understand their habits and expand what becomes available in practice, teaching, and performance.
