Back to School
@ mBODYed
Start the year with less unnecessary tension.
New semester. New rehearsals. New repertoire. New students.
And sometimes the same tension, breathing problems, fatigue, or coordination issues you were hoping would disappear over the summer.
Through September 1, I'm offering two ways to begin.
Not sure what you need?
Try a 30-Minute
Private Lesson — $18
Sometimes you do not need another exercise.
You need someone to look at what is actually happening.
Maybe:
your shoulders tighten when you play
breathing feels harder than it should
your jaw or neck keeps getting involved
sitting or standing for long rehearsals becomes uncomfortable
something feels different in the practice room than it does in performance
an old injury keeps changing how you move
you have received conflicting advice about posture, breathing, or technique
Bring one question. Bring your instrument if appropriate.
For 30 minutes, we will look at what you are doing, what your body is doing, and where a different option
may be available.
30 minutes · Online · $18
A limited number of sessions are available through September 1.

Already know you want a full lesson?
Your standard starting point for
private work is a 90-minute First Lesson.
That gives us enough time to look closely at what is happening
in your playing, singing, teaching, movement, breathing,
or coordination and begin working with it directly.
First Lesson · 90 minutes · $225
With the Back-to-School code,
your First Lesson is $168.75 through September 1.

What are the Alexander Technique and Body Mapping?
Alexander Technique
Alexander Technique helps you notice and change unnecessary patterns of effort that interfere with movement, breathing, coordination, and performance.
The work is especially useful when you know what you want to do, but your body keeps adding something extra.
More tension. More holding. More preparation. More effort.
Body Mapping
Body Mapping looks at how your understanding of your own anatomy influences the way you move.
Sometimes the body is working harder because the internal map is inaccurate.
Where the ribs move. How the arms connect to the torso. Where the hip joints actually are. What the spine does when you breathe.
When the map changes, movement often changes with it.
Prior experience is not required to begin.
This work is for musicians.
Instrumentalists. Singers. Conductors. Music educators. University faculty. Students. Private teachers.
People preparing for another year in the studio, classroom, rehearsal room, or on stage.
You do not need to be injured.
You do not need to be in crisis.
You may simply know:
This should not require this much effort.
That is enough to begin.
Back-to-School offers end September 1.
