Your First Lesson
You did the work. Why is it different in the studio, in rehearsal, or on stage?
You practiced the passage.
You know what you want to do.
But in the lesson, the rehearsal, or the performance, it feels different.
The breath gets tighter.
The sound changes.
The tension returns.
What felt available before becomes harder to reach.
Bring that to your first lesson.
Together, we will work with what is happening as you play, sing, speak, teach, or move.
90 minutes · Online or in person in Seattle · $225
Bring One Real Thing
Bring something you are already working on:
a passage that changes in the lesson or rehearsal
a performance you are preparing for
tension that keeps returning when you play
a breath that becomes less responsive under pressure
a teaching moment you cannot quite find your way through
a way of preparing that no longer seems to help
You do not need to know why it is happening.
We will work with what is happening while it is happening.
“What once created your excellence may now be limiting you.”
What Happens in the Session
You play, sing, speak, teach, or move.
We begin with the task itself.
We look at what you are doing, what becomes less available, and where additional effort begins to enter.
Then we change the conditions and see what becomes possible.
This is not another set of instructions to carry into the next performance.
The work happens in the lesson, through your own experience.
You leave knowing what to work with next.
You leave with a clearer sense of:
what is happening when the conditions change
where additional effort is entering
what becomes more available when that effort is no longer required
what to continue exploring in your own work
The purpose is not to make you calm.
It is to help more of what you practiced remain available when you need it.
What if you keep working the same way?
You may be able to manage the tension.
You may find another breathing exercise, another warm-up, or another way to prepare.
Sometimes that helps.
But if the same thing keeps happening in the lesson, the rehearsal, or the performance, more preparation may not reach it.
You did the work. The question is why less of it remains available when you need it.
That is what we work with in the first lesson.

Some people come for one lesson around a specific concern.
Others continue with private lessons over time.

What clients say
-
“After the accident, I did not just want to get back to where I was. I wanted to understand why I could access excellence in some moments and lose it completely in others. This was the first time someone showed me the pattern instead of just managing the recovery.”
-Toni
-
“I finished performances I was proud of and still walked offstage feeling like a fraud. That gap did not make sense until we looked at what was actually happening underneath it.”
— Missy
-
"I didn't expect this to change how I stood in front of a room. But what was shaping me before I ever opened my mouth turned out to be the real issue, not what I said."
— Diane
